Finally, the weekend

with 4 comments

It has been a really hectic week for me.  Overtime most of the week, the shop keeps me occupied a fair bit  since the Magnolia Christmas stamps and Stampendous storage solutions have come in and of course nobody is feeling 100% healthy in the house these days.  I opened some of the new Magnolia Christmas stamps and was happy to finally get a chance to play.  Followed the Just Magnolia sketch this week, I am not a fan of writing stuff sideways so I cheated a little.  I used Sitting Tilda with Glitter and some of the new Magnolia Christmas paper.

Just Magnolia Challenge – Monochrome

with 5 comments

So I popped in over at the “Just Magnolia” challenge blog and this weeks challenge is all about monochrome.  I think I did a pretty good job and I totally love the card.  I’m not sure how I’ll actually mail these suckers out….

Just Magnolia Monochrome challenge

Still working on how I take my pictures.  Maybe I have to learn about photoshop a bit more as I still think the pictures look a little dull.  I certainly admire those cardmakers out there who are able to make the pictures of their cards POP!

Supplies:

  • Magnolia rubber stamp (Tilda with Candle)
  • Cricut cartridge (Storybook)
  • Martha Stewart border punch (doiley)
  • Basic Grey paper and sticker (Wassail)
  • Making Memories brads

Thanks!!

Card Patterns Sketch 38

with 8 comments

Sometimes a sketch just speaks to you!  After looking at the CP sketch this week and all the beautiful DT cards I knew exactly what I wanted to do.  I love this holiday card because it is not the traditional red/green and the image I used doesn’t scream Christmas.  Sometimes you just need something a little understated…..

Card Patterns Sketch 38

Supplies:

  • Magnolia stamp (Tomtinga Tilda)
  • MME patterned paper (Wild Asparagus “Noel”)

The card that wasn’t…

with 3 comments

I wasn’t going to post this right away but I haven’t had a chance to take a picture of my second card.  Confused?  I started  creating this card for the Card Patterns sketch challenge but I couldn’t bring myself to cut the background in half so I left it as is.  So this card is inspired by the CP sketch 37 but doesn’t completely follow the sketch.  Not to be deterred, I created a second card but between getting home late and darkness descending upon us earlier and earlier, I couldn’t get a decent picture.

Anyhow, keep an eye out tomorrow because I will be posting card #2.  And if you *LOVE* Magnolia stamps then check out my store blog HERE.  I will be announcing the DT call any day now…….

Thanks for popping in!

Moralia’s Sketch Challenge

with one comment

Well, it’s been another busy weekend and I haven’t even got close to doing all the projects I had planned.  I did manage to get this card made for my friends Carla’s WCM Day challenge.  I am going to try to get a card or project done each night this week, it’ll be interesting to see if I even get close LOL.

Here’s Carla’s sketch:

Some Sunday projects

with 3 comments

Well, it’s quite late and I really should get to bed.  I have got a ton to do this week and not enough time to do it.  Hubby is home this Friday on 2 weeks leave so we are all pretty excited, Ryan is counting down the days (literally).  Anyhow, I have a couple of things to post and I think I will leave it at that.

First I have a small notebook that I made for Ryan.  After he saws Evan’s communication book he decided he needed one too.  His is much smaller, as you can probably tell from how big Edwin looks LOL, but he didn’t need anything bigger.  He loves it, must be the camouflage patterned paper…. I have had so much fun making these books for the kids, I may have to make some for my nephew and nieces.  Speaking of, my sister wants me to make my youngest niece a piggy bank (I have made them all piggy banks) and some memory boxes so maybe I’ll take some time out next weekend to get started on that.

Supplies:

  • Scenic Route paper and sticker (Grafton)
  • Making Memories tiny alphas
  • American Crafts Thickers
  • Cricut “George and Basic Shapes” cartridge (Star)
  • Edwin with Cap (2008 Shabby Chic Collection)

I also have a Christmas card for ya!  I love the Magnolia Christmas images (and I am so excited to see the new ones, can’t wait !!!!) and I have so much fun making Christmas cards.  Lately I have been in a bit of a funk so it may seem simple but it’s all I could manage to produce …

Supplies:

  • Basic Grey paper
  • Making Memories rub-ons
  • Melissa Frances pearls
  • Tilda with Wreath (2007 Christmas & Winter)

Anyhow, thanks for popping by.  If you want updates on the new Magnolia lines then stop by the Stamp Shoppe blog HERE.

Magnolia Down Under Challenge 22

with 6 comments

It’s 10:00pm and I still have a lot to do before I hit the sack.  I need to get lunches ready for school tomorrow because it saves me from running around the house in the morning, doing the flight of the bumblebee.  It’s not that I am disorganized but I’m not a coffee drinker so it takes a while for me to wake up in the morning and by preparing the night before I am assured that the kids will at least have food – it’s all good.  I also need to bake muffins.  The banana’s keep getting browner and there is a point where they are no longer salvageable so, in an effort not to waste food (and keep my kids happy), I will bake banana chocolate chip muffins.  I need to tweak the recipe a bit so that it is lower in calories/fat and that way I won’t feel too guilty when I scarf one (or two) down for lunch.

Anyhow, I altered this journal so that it could be used as a communication book for my youngest son Evan.  He has just started JK and it has been an anxious time for me so I thought it would be a good way for the EA’s or teacher and I to communicate back and forth as we need to.  So far I am the only one communicating which irks me a little but I am keeping my cool and look forward to meet the teacher day tomorrow :)   When Ryan started to school it was tough but with Evan and his special needs I must admit, it has caused me far more anxiety and stress than I would have imagined.  Altering this book was certainly a highlight and although it is nothing special or extra fancy, it’s one of my favourite things I have created.  I was actually inspired by the Magnolia Down Under challenge (#22) because it was for anything but a card and I am not a huge fan of altering and stuff but the idea for the communication book was immediate.

Supplies:

  • Basic Grey patterned paper & rub-ons
  • American Crafts Thickers
  • Making Memories rub-ons
  • Sticker Studio RoadTrip stickers
  • Magnolia stamps (Summer Edwin)

And here is our picture from Evan’s first day of Junior Kindergarten:

Are you ready?

with 3 comments

Has anybody else been picking away at their Christmas cards?  Last year it sort of jumped up on me and I want to be prepared this time so I have started making a Christmas card here and there.  Besides, I have a ton of holiday papers that need to be used up (so I can buy more) and the cutest set of Magnolia images.

Supplies:

  • Magnolia stamp (Edwin’s snowman)
  • Bo Bunny paper (Jack Frost)
  • Felt Ribbon (I think maybe Queen &Co)
  • Making Memories Brads
  • Creative Imaginations rub-ons
  • Stickles

Thanks for popping in!

Just Magnolia Week 22

with 2 comments

Good Morning everyone~!  It’s pretty gray here today, perfect for getting some chores done and then settling in to do some scrapping.  I created this card last night and it didn’t take long at all (which is surprising for me).  I really wanted to use up some of the older Daisy Bucket papers I had and so opted to make a boy card for the Just Magnolia embossing challenge.  I heat embossed Edwin, and I dry embossed the oval with CB Swiss Dot.  I had bought some Martha Stewart craft glue (says it won’t wrinkle paper) but I find that the glue is very wet, meaning it seeps into the paper and does wrinkle the paper or cause it to bow slightly.  I was using a Beacon glue which worked MUCH better (but smelled bad).

Supplies:

  • Daisy Bucket patterned paper (In the Meadow)
  • Magnolia Stamp (Edwin with Cap)
  • American Craft Thickers
  • Cuttlebug Swiss Dot embossing folder
  • Melissa Frances rub-ons

Thanks for stopping by!

Basic Grey Inspiration challenge

with 2 comments

I had so much fun with this weeks challenge at Basic Grey Challenges.  I haven’t really played along since the “new” blog opened but this challenge spoke to me, and I created my card fairly quickly too.  I was inspired by the clean crisp colours, greens and blues and immediately pulled out some BG Wisteria papers.  I think I might like to try this card again but with Tilda coloured in some cool greys and pale greens, versus the bright green/purple combo.

Supplies:

  • Basic Grey patterned paper (Wisteria)
  • Martha Stewart border punch (doily)
  • Chatterbox chipboard alphas
  • Prima Flower
  • Magnolia rubber stamps (Lovin’ Tilda – 2009 Love Collection)

Thanks for popping in!
